ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The City of Rochester has issued a Cool Sweep Friday for rising temperatures.
What is a cool sweep?
A Cool Sweep is a public safety initiative that provides people with free access to cooling resources and sites across Rochester.
The city issues Cool Sweep declarations any time temperatures are forecast to reach 85 degrees or hotter. During a Cool Sweep, there are extended hours at the R-Centers, spray parks and libraries.
The following R-Centers will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. on weekdays
Adams St., 85 Adams St. Avenue D, 200 Avenue D Carter St., 500 Carter St. David F. Gantt, 700 North St. Edgerton, 41 Backus St. Frederick Douglass, 999 South Ave. Trenton and Pamela Jackson, 485 N. Clinton Ave. Willie Walker Lightfoot, 271 Flint St. Rochester Community Sports Complex, 460 Oak St. (10 a.m. to 6 p.m.)The following spray parks will be open everyday between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m.
Carter Street R-Center, 500 Carter St. Edgerton R-Center, 41 Backus St. David F. Gantt R-Center, 700 North St. Thomas P. Ryan R-Center, 530 Webster Ave. Roxie Ann Sinkler R-Center, 75 Grover St. Hope R-Center, 524 Campbell St. Humboldt R-Center, 1045 Atlantic Ave.The following spray features will be open everyday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
