ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Thursday is Holocaust Survivor Day, a time to honor the strength and resilience of those who lived through one of history’s darkest chapters.
Here in Rochester, Jewish Family Services supports more than 100 Holocaust survivors through care management, emergency assistance, and social programs.
“The community really recognizes that JFS is serving holocaust survivors in a very meaningful way and really wants to be a part of that effort,” said Deb Rosen, CEO and president of Jewish Family Services.
“A lot of folks regardless of their life experience, they reach a certain point in life and resources are slim, and so this is one way to bolster the resources. And it’s connection. It’s connection with other humans,” said Christine Corrado, volunteer.
As this population grows older, advocates say support and awareness are more critical than ever.
