Krunal Pandya shares honest feelings on missing India comeback

India all-rounder Krunal Pandya has finally shared his emotions and explained how he has stayed motivated even after not playing for the Indian national cricket team for around five years. Even though he is not part of the Indian setup since 2021, Krunal Pandya has continued to perform strongly in the IPL and domestic cricket for Baroda.

Despite being away from the international arena, Pandya managed to impress everyone with his performances as Baroda captain and for the IPL teams like Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).

Krunal Pandya has played 5 ODIs for India and scored 130 runs at an average of 43.33, along with a couple of wickets. In T20Is, the off-spinner scalped 15 wickets and scored 128 runs in 19 matches. He got into the Indian team after strong performances for Mumbai Indians in the IPL.

After helping RCB to retain their title in IPL 2026, Krunal Pandya has looked back at his time with India as a proud phase of his life. The all-rounder said that playing for the country was his childhood dream, and he feels happy that he got that opportunity and was able to contribute in a few matches.

Krunal Pandya was quoted as saying by Times of India: “There is no better feeling than playing for the country." When I was six or seven years old, there was no IPL. The biggest dream for any cricketer was to play for India. I dreamt about it my entire life and got that opportunity in 2018.

In the 18 games I played, I did decently well. I won a Man of the Match in Australia and New Zealand and a Man of the Series in the West Indies. I had a good run with the Indian team. Later, when I got another opportunity in one-day cricket, I did pretty well again.”

Krunal Pandya talks about dealing with disappointment in career

Meanwhile, Pandya admitted that he has not been part of the Indian team for a long time, and still his ‘ultimate goal’ has always been to play for the country, but he doesn’t think too much about the call-up. He has now shifted his focus on performing in every opportunity, whether it is domestic cricket or IPL, and helping his teams win trophies and big matches.

Pandya signed off by saying, “Somewhere down the line, you mature and realise that you play this sport because you love it. I don’t think too much about selection now. Of course, I am human, and there is disappointment at times. But I am at a stage where I want to do my job wherever I play. I want to win trophies, whether in domestic cricket or the IPL. Sometimes you have to remind yourself why you started playing cricket. I have immense love for the sport, and that’s what keeps me going.”
