Manchester home a total loss after fire; everyone escapes without injury

MANCHESTER, N.Y. — A home on Dewey Road in Manchester was declared a total loss after a fire Wednesday afternoon that brought firefighters from more than a dozen departments into action.

Crews responded to the fire at the home at 3777 Dewey Road at about 4:43 p.m. According to the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office, the fire was contained within the single residence — and it burned quickly, burning the entire home to the ground. Everyone within the home got out without any injuries, deputies said, and are being helped by the American Red Cross.

Dewey Road was closed between County Road 7 and North Avenue as firefighters battled the blaze and remained closed as of 8:03 p.m. Deputies said the road would remain closed until all fire personnel leave the scene.

The Ontario County Fire Coordinator’s Office is investigating the fire.

Firefighters from Manchester, Hopewell, Shortsville, Clifton Springs, Pumpkin Hook, Seneca Castle, Oaks Corners, Phelps, Port Gibson, Northside, Victor, Fairville and Marion departments responded, along with county fire investigators and Mercy Flight EMS Ambulance.
