Food Network is bringing back the tournament format to Guy's Grocery Games, and this time the competition is going global.
According to the latest issue of Food Network Magazine, Guy's Grocery Games: Global Games premieres Wednesday, July 8, at 9 p.m. ET. Hosted by Guy Fieri, the tournament will feature eight accomplished chefs competing for a $50,000 prize and what the network describes as "international glory."
The competition appears to put a global spin on the format that proved popular last year with the show's Greatest of All Time (GOAT) Tournament, which brought together some of the winningest chefs in Guy's Grocery Games history.

This year's field features eight returning competitors, each associated with a different culinary tradition from around the world.
Representing Italian cuisine is Gabe Bertaccini, while Claudette Zepeda will bring Mexican flavors to the competition. Viet Pham appears poised to represent Vietnamese cuisine, David Viana the Portuguese and Iberian traditions, and Aarthi Sampath with Indian cuisine.
The field also includes Kevin Lee representing Korean cuisine, Einat Admony showcasing Middle Eastern and Israeli flavors, and Tobias Dorzon bringing West African cuisine into the spotlight.
A promotional image released by the magazine shows each chef wearing a different colored track jacket, giving the tournament the feel of an international sporting event. The chefs are grouped together beneath the title Global Games, reinforcing the worldwide theme.

While Food Network has not yet revealed the tournament structure, fans may see similarities to last year's GOAT competition.
