WATERLOO, N.Y. — Seneca County issued a boil water advisory for part of the Village of Waterloo after a water main break Tuesday morning.
Seneca County says the break caused a pressure loss in its water system, so neighbors at 4-56 West Elizabeth Street and 17-38 Center Street should boil tap water for a minute before using it.
That boiled water should be used for brushing teeth, drinking, making ice, prepping food, etc.
The county says that waterline is getting repaired, but neighbors should boil water for the next three days until the repairs are done and crews test the water. Neighbors in the affected area will be notified of the test results.
The county says, “Harmful microbes in drinking water can cause diarrhea, cramps, nausea, headaches, or other symptoms andmay pose a special health risk for infants, some elderly, and people with severely compromised immunesystems. But these symptoms are not just caused by microbes in drinking water. If you experience any of thesesymptoms and they persist, you should seek medical advice”
If you have questions, contact the Village of Waterloo at 315-539-9131 or the Seneca County Department of Health at 315-539-1945.
