Random Ramsdom: No Super Bowl Champions in June

No Super Bowls are won in the offseason, but the Los Angeles Rams are making a case that they could be the best team in the NFL going into 2026. Whereas the case is being made, let’s slow our roll. For yesterday’s Random Ramsdom, I wrote about how the Seattle Seahawks were still the team to beat in the NFL going into the 2026 season, and I still think that’s a fair assessment. The Seahawks are the defending Super Bowl Champions, and thus, they are the team to beat.

However, the Rams are certainly making sure that every team and fan knows that for L.A., it’s Super Bowl or bust. That’s a lot of pressure.

If someone wants to say the Rams are the team to beat, heard, that’s a fair take, but I’ll still say it’s the Seahawks conference until proven otherwise. The Rams may not get the chance to prove that until December/January, but we’ll see.

“The Cleveland Browns have traded two-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett to the Los Angeles Rams for two-time Pro Bowl pass rusher Jared Verse and multiple draft picks, the teams announced Monday.

The Browns received a first-round draft pick in 2027, a second-round pick in 2028 and a third-rounder in 2029 in what is one of the biggest trades in NFL history involving a defensive player.

The shocking trade is completely on brand for the Rams, who made a similarly seismic move in the 2021 offseason when they acquired quarterback Matthew Stafford in the season in which the Super Bowl was being played in Los Angeles before going on to win it.“

“A blockbuster trade won’t guarantee dominance as brutal divisional rivals and a neutralizing international opener in Melbourne threaten to derail Los Angeles’ star-studded championship aspirations.”

“L.A. came up short in 2025 and is determined to avoid the same failure in 2026. It returns the Rams to a familiar team-building strategy that helped establish them as one of the NFL’s best teams. The Rams have always been willing to part with draft picks in exchange for premium talent.

It just so happens that the two-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year was available for trade.“

“I know everybody loves a close game. I may be a minority in that I love a good blowout and I am here for it. I would love to see TY on the field, but only in lopsided contests where he just offers handoffs to LA’s #3RB. Victory formation.

I find myself going on year 36 of my Rams Fandom and I find it harder and harder to watch at times. I turned the Super bowl off for nearly a quarter. May have developed a mild heart condition during that NFC Championshipgame in ’21 and if not then definitely during back half of the ’24 schedule when Rams had to peel off a winning streak to even get in playoffs. This past season was probably the worst because LA was often the better team, but would kinda play down to their competition. This team is young, but they’re no longer inexperienced. They’ve got the experience, the training, and by God we hope the discipline to go out there on Sundays, Monday nights, Wednesday (WTF), Thursday nights, (no Friday) and maybe a Saturday (playoffs) to kick some arse! Bring back boring.

Gone are the days of games (not against Jets) where the game is decided shortly after kickoff?

Let’s cheer on the 2026 LA Rams as they attempt to bring back boring! Bring back the blowout! -with LA being on the right side of said blowout.“ -Badmoforamfan

“There is a narrative out there that McVay is a short timer because he admitted he almost quit after the 2022 season, because he couldn’t handle losing. Jourdan Rodrigue, at the Athletic, did an in-depth article on that, with McVay. In that article he describes how he worked his way through, has been re-invigorated, and can’t imagine doing anything other than coaching. He also said that he wanted his legacy to show that he could not only win with Stafford’s team, but also a “new” (new QB) team. I don’t think he’s quitting anytime soon.“ -delusionalramfanslosteve
