ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Rochester Police say they had to call for backup on Tuesday morning while arresting someone accused of entering a woman’s home without permission and assaulting her.
News10NBC’s photojournalist saw officers and police cruisers swarming Kingston Street off East Main Street. RPD says that, while arresting the 27-year-old man, other people encroached on the officers.
Police say the suspect, who knew the victim, entered her home on Hudson Avenue around 2:40 p.m. on Saturday, May 23. According to RPD, the suspect and the victim began fighting, leading to an upper-body injury for the victim.
Over a week later, RPD responded to a home on Kingston Street just before 12:30 a.m. to make an arrest. Police say that’s where other people began to encroach, but no officers were injured. The suspect is charged with burglary and assault. He was taken to the Monroe County Jail. Check back for any updates.
