After exactly six decades spent working as a musician, Slade member Dave Hill is finally releasing his first solo album in 2026. Later this year, the founding member of English rock band Slade and its longtime guitarist, Hill, will release his debut album, Dirty Foot Lane.
The record is set to come out sometime in October of this year. Representatives for Hill, via Louder, described the album as "a rich, autobiographical collection of songs reflecting a lifetime of music, creativity, and personal discovery." This will be Hill's first solo album despite being a working musician since 1966.
Hill also shared some thoughts on the highly-anticipated release, declaring, "I’ve always been driven. And I’m still looking for the next challenge. This album is part of that journey."

Dirty Foot Lane also had the help of producer Django Holder, who is none other than the son of fellow Slade founding member Noddy Holder, who left the band in 1992.
Hill opened up about the personal album in an interview with Contact Music at the end of 2025, talking a bit more about what fans can expect from the new music. He told the publication, "It’s true stories, slightly country, not Slade, but it has rock in there."
He went on, sharing more details about specific songs and who inspired them, saying, "There’s songs written about my mother, I’ve written a song for Slade. It’s a thank you to Noddy, Jim [Lea] and Don [Powell], it’s called 'Thanks For The Good Times,' it’s a great song."

The album will be very autobiographical, and the title is inspired by a real place where Hill would take his kids to play in haystacks. Hill appeared very satisfied with how it turned out, telling Contact Music, "I’m really happy with it, I feel there’s only one person you’ve got to please now and that’s me."
But even with this perspective, Hill said that many music fans will like the release: “It’s an album of memories, but I feel this album will appeal to a lot of people – not just Slade fans but a lot of others."
An official release date has not been confirmed beyond the month of October. Fans should be on the lookout for more updates and teases soon.
