PENFIELD, N.Y. — Penfield schools are implementing new security policies after surveying parents and teachers.
Among the changes being made are locking doors after school hours and streamlining the guest and visitor sign-in process.
Last fall, parents expressed concerns over security after threats were sent to the district, and parents weren’t allowed to speak at a board of education meeting soon after.

Along with safety and security measures, the district says it has created student, family, and employee superintendent advisory councils, designated time at Board of Education meetings for parent-teacher organizations to present and address the board, hosted conversations for community partners and families on various topics, and organized fall and spring listening sessions for employees.
The district says all of these measures were supported in the survey results.
