Robin Quivers, the longtime sidekick to radio star Howard Stern, just made a major health announcement.
Quivers, 73, has struggled with endometrial cancer since 2012. But during the June 1 episode of The Howard Stern Show, the radio staple shared that she has finally beaten the disease.
"I'm cancer-free!" Quivers shared during the episode, PEOPLE reported. Always one to have a good joke on hand, Quivers and Stern first joked that she was going to start an OnlyFans account or that she was pregnant with Stern's baby. However, the celebration was about her non-stop fight against cancer.
"This is honestly the best news ever," Stern shared. "Robin kicked cancer's ass. They said it couldn't be done."
Stern went on to say that he was flabbergasted when Quivers called to tell him that cancer was in the rearview.
"I get the chills now even thinking about it. You know what I mean, when you just can't believe something?" he said. "I couldn't believe it. And really, I've said this to Robin privately, but I would like to say it on the air. Like this is really a miracle."
Stern went on to praise Quivers, calling her a "fighter."
"She researched, she got the answers she needed, and here's the good lesson — she took charge. I'm gonna say this because this is really true. I've watched the whole thing. She took charge of her health. She started to do all the right things. She never deviated, and she really took it seriously," he added.
How Long Have Stern and Quivers Broadcast Together?
Stern and Quivers have been a dynamic duo on the radio since 1981. When Stern re-signed his contract with SiriusXM, he made it clear that he wouldn't do the show without Quivers.
“I’m happy to announce that I’ve figured out a way to have it all, Stern shared earlier this year. “More free time and continuing to be on the radio. So yes, we are coming back for three years."
Above all, he said he loves the medium.
“I’m excited about it, because you know what? I do still love radio,” he added.
