Legendary rock band L7 has announced that longtime bassist Jennifer Finch will be unable to perform during the group's upcoming summer 2026 concert dates due to a health issue requiring extended treatment.
The announcement was shared by the band on Instagram on Sunday, just days before several scheduled performances in Canada and the United States.
“Due to a recent health concern requiring extended treatment, Jennifer Finch will be unable to perform with L7 at our upcoming summer shows. Tsuzumi Okai will be joining the band on bass for these dates. We send Jennifer our love and support and ask that everyone respect her privacy.”
The news arrives as L7 prepares for a busy touring schedule that includes summer festival appearances and the launch of their farewell run, The Last Hurrah Tour, later this year.

Frontwoman Donita Sparks reassured fans that Finch is expected to return when the band's final world tour begins in the fall.
“Jennifer needs time to recuperate and we’re looking forward to rocking with her in the fall on our Last Hurrah tour. She’s a tough cookie!❤️” she commented.

For those shows, bassist Tsuzumi Okai will step in for Finch. Okai is known to rock fans for previously serving as a touring bassist for Limp Bizkit in 2018.
Finch has been one of the most recognizable members of L7 throughout the band's history. She first joined the Los Angeles-based group in 1986 and played a key role during the band's rise in the late 1980s and early 1990s.
As bassist, songwriter, photographer and performer, Finch contributed to several of L7’s most notable releases, including L7 (1988), Smell the Magic (1990), Bricks Are Heavy (1992), Hungry for Stink (1994), and the reunion-era album Scatter the Rats (2019).
She departed the band in 1996 before returning when L7 reunited in 2014. Since then, Finch has remained part of the band's core lineup alongside Donita Sparks, Suzi Gardner and Dee Plakas.
The band did not disclose the nature of Finch’s health condition and requested privacy as she undergoes treatment.
The health update comes only weeks after L7 revealed plans for The Last Hurrah Tour, the first leg of what the group describes as its final world tour.
The farewell trek begins on Oct. 9 in Phoenix, Arizona, and will visit major cities including Austin, Dallas, Nashville, Washington, D.C., New York City, Chicago, Seattle, San Francisco and Los Angeles.
Formed in Los Angeles in 1985, L7 became one of the most influential rock bands of the 1990s. The group earned widespread recognition through albums such as Bricks Are Heavy and songs including “Pretend We’re Dead” and “Andres.”
The band went on hiatus in 2001 before reuniting in 2014. Their 2016 documentary, L7: Pretend We’re Dead, introduced the group to a new generation of fans and helped fuel years of renewed touring activity.
While Finch's absence from the summer shows marks a temporary change in the lineup, L7 remains optimistic about her recovery.
