Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have seemingly decided against holding a victory parade in Karnataka’s captial following the team’s consecutive IPL title win. On Sunday, Rajat Patidar and co. beat Gujarat Titans by 5 wickets to join MI and CSK in the elite club of teams that have won the IPL two consecutive times. RCB ended their 18-year-wait to lay their hands on the IPL trophy last year, and what followed was a stampede at the centre of the state’s capital, which led to 11 people being killed and several injured.
No victory parade after RCB’s second IPL title win
As per the Sportstar, a RCB source has claimed that it highly unlikely that any activities will take place in Bengaluru after RCB’s IPL 2026 victory, and it largely has to do with the guidelines issued by the Bengaluru Police previously. Just before the IPL 2026 final, the Bengaluru Police had issued a notification, stating that public screening of the final, celebrations by fans on the roads was prohibited. These guidelines were issued keeping in mind the tragedy that took place last year after RCB won their maiden IPL trophy.
“It is highly unlikely that there will be any activities in Bengaluru. There are certain guidelines in place, and we need to stick to them,” a RCB source told news agency PTI, as per Sportstar.
In addtion to the guidelines issued by Bengaluru police, CM-designate DK Shivakumar is expected to take oath as the chief minister on June 3 at 4.05 PM. The report claims that the ceremony is expected to draw massive crowd from across Karnataka, and that the venue is quite close to the M Chinnaswamy stadium. Therefore, no victory parade is expected to be held by RCB.
While RCB captain Rajat Patidar dedicated the team’s 2nd IPL trophy win to the 11 victims of the Bengaluru stampede, the incident still remains fresh in the minds of the team management. After all, cricket returned to the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru for the first time in IPL 2026 after the tragedy last year. RCB were reportedly hesitant to play the entire home season at the venue, and as a result played some of their home games in Raipur.
