Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Multi-time YMCA Nationals finalist Alison Stalfort has announced her verbal commitment to swim and study at The College of William & Mary beginning in the fall of 2027. She publicized the news on SwimCloud, writing:

I am so excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at The College of William & Mary! I would like to thank my parents and coaches for supporting me over the years. Thank you to Coach Nate, Coach Mike, and Coach Caleb for this amazing opportunity. Go Tribe!

A backstroke, butterfly, and IM specialist from Manchester, MD, Stalfort trains year-round with York YMCA Swimming.

Stalfort wrapped up the 2025-26 short course season at the YMCA National Championships at the end of March, finishing 10th in the 200 fly (2:03.70), 12th in the 100 fly (55.82), 16th in the 200 IM (2:06.14), and 38th in the 100 back (57.87), all current personal bests with the exception of the 100 back. Her backstroke bests of 55.67/2:02.22 remain from the 2025 iteration of the meet, where she made an ‘A’ final for the first time in her career, finishing eighth in the 200 back.

Despite being a bit outside of her backstroke times this season, Stalfort found a new gear in the fly and IM events. Over the course of the season, she dropped two seconds in the 200 IM and about a second in each of the fly events.

    Top SCY Times:

    100 Backstroke: 55.67 200 Backstroke: 2:02.22 100 Butterfly: 55.82 200 Butterfly: 2:03.70 200 IM: 2:06.14

A Division I Mid-Major program, William & Mary competes in the Coastal Athletic Conference, with the women’s team winning this past season’s conference championship. Stalfort’s current career bests would have made the ‘A’ final in the 200 fly and ‘B’ finals in the 100 fly, 200 IM, and both backstroke events, already putting her in position to be an immediate contributor with two full seasons of training still ahead before her first conference meet.

Stalfort joins Grace Higdon, KK Sullivan, Caroline Linkous, and Maggie O’Hara in committing to William & Mary’s class of 2031 so far.
