A suburban man is facing charges for allegedly drugging a woman he met at a concert in Chicago before sexually assaulting her, authorities announced.
Timothy O’Connell, 36, is facing three counts of criminal sexual assault after he allegedly drugged a woman during a concert at the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago and then sexually assaulted her at a home in suburban Palos Hills on April 20, the Cook County Sheriff’s Office said.
Authorities said O’Connell allegedly gave a woman who was visiting from out of state a drink at the concert and she could no longer recall the rest of the night after taking a few sips. Investigators said her next recollection was the following morning when she woke up partially undressed inside the house in Palos Hills. O’Connell then ordered her a ride back to her hotel using a rideshare account registered in his name, authorities said.
The victim sought medical attention when she returned home and the results indicated she had been sexually assaulted, authorities said.
A search warrant for O’Connell’s calls and location data placed him at the Aragon Ballroom and at the Palos Hills home on the night of the alleged assault, authorities said. Security footage also showed him carrying the victim as he walked outside the venue and a separate camera captured a vehicle dropping the victim and O’Connell off at the Palos Hills home later in the evening.
O’Connell appeared in court on Thursday where he was ordered to the Chief Judge’s Pretrial Electronic Monitoring program.
