Interior Minister affirms no incidents disrupting Hajj reported
MAKKAH — Minister of Interior and Chairman of the Supreme Hajj Committee Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Naif said that the security situation during Hajj 2026 was stable and no incidents disrupting the Hajj or compromising the safety of the pilgrims happened. He attributed this to complete discipline of pilgrims and close monitoring of the pilgrims’ conditions, movements, and accommodations by the concerned authorities.The interior minister made the remarks in cables of greetings sent to Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman and Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman on the occasion of the Eid Al-Adha and the great success of the Hajj operation. In separate cables, Prince Abdulaziz congratulated King Salman and the Crown Prince for the great success of Hajj. He praised the wisdom and capability of the leadership in conducting the Hajj season to the fullest extent, despite the political and economic circumstances the region is experiencing and their impact on travel of pilgrims. The minister noted that this year, 1,707,301 pilgrims performed Hajj. “The pilgrims were provided with the highest standards of care and services, enabling them to perform their rituals in ease, comfort, and safety…. The security personnel and all members of the relevant governmental and private agencies serving the pilgrims performed their duties with high professionalism,” he said noting that this contributed to the success of all the planned activities, by the grace of God. “This year's Hajj season was free from any disruptions or incidents that affected the safety and security of the pilgrims, and no epidemic or quarantine-related cases were recorded,” the minister added. In a related development, the minister of interior held a high-level meeting of senior Saudi officials and heads of agencies participated in making this year’s Hajj operation a resounding success. During the meeting, held at the ministry’s headquarters in Makkah on Friday, Prince Abdulaziz conveyed the greetings and congratulations of King Salman and the Crown Prince to all personnel across the Ministry of Interior, Ministry of the National Guard, Ministry of Defense, the Presidency of State Security, and the General Intelligence Presidency, celebrating Eid Al-Adha and the success of the 2026 Hajj security operation. “This year's security and organizational blueprints achieved absolute success across all metrics, backed by the comprehensive deployment of Saudi Arabia's human, infrastructural, and technological resources,” he said while stressing that serving the Two Holy Mosques remains a definitive national priority rooted in the state’s 300-year history. The minister praised the high professionalism and integrated synergy demonstrated by all military and civilian field units, while thanking international pilgrims and Hajj missions for their disciplined adherence to the Hajj regulations. Prince Abdulaziz directed the immediate launch of proactive preparations for the upcoming 2027 season. During the meeting, Director of Public Security and Chairman of the Hajj Security Committee Lt. Gen. Mohammed Al-Bassami delivered an address outlining how unified operational planning and the pivotal monitoring role of the Hajj Security Operations Center effectively maintained the safety and tranquility of more than 1.7 million worshippers throughout their Hajj journey.
