ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Friends and family of Kimanhi Hinds gathered outside Flour City Station on East Avenue to mark three years since he was shot and killed at the bar.

In 2023, prosecutors said a bar fight turned into a homicide when Hinds was killed by a man he didn’t even know. News10NBC spoke with his children about what their dad meant to them.
“If you know my dad personally, he’s a family person, so this is all he wanted for us, for all of us to come together,” said Kimanhi Hinds Jr., son of Kimanhi Hinds.
“I feel like every year we come together, it just makes his name alive and that’s important to keep his name alive,” said Alexia Hinds, daughter of Kimanhi Hinds. “As the years go on, we will always be out here. You will always see us out here.”
“That’s what we’ve been doing. Keeping his name alive, coming together as a family, and always being strong for him. That’s really it,” Hinds Jr. said.
A security guard at the bar was also shot but survived. Randy Burney is serving 25 years to life in prison.
