A gas leak has shut down some prominent roads during the Wednesday morning rush hour in a northern suburb as crews respond to the area, authorities said.
The Wheeling Police and Fire Departments said a gas leak was reported in the area of Milwaukee Avenue and Hintz Road, just outside of Chicago Executive Airport.
Road closures were put in place as crews responded, the departments said.
The closures include southbound traffic on Milwaukee at River Mill Parkway and eastbound traffic on Hintz at Wolf Road.
It was not immediately clear how long the closures would last.
