WARREN — Mabel G. Suzelis, 85, entered into eternal rest Sunday, May 24, 2026, at Shepherd of the Valley-Howland.
She was born Nov. 21, 1940, in Tarrs, Pa., the daughter of Charles R. and Fern Millward Gelet.
Mabel was a loving mother, grandmother and friend whose energetic spirit and generous heart touched everyone who knew her. She will be remembered for her warm heart, lively spirit and the joy she brought to those around her.
She dedicated many years to her work at Packard Electric, where she not only enjoyed her career but also built lasting friendships with her co-workers.
Outside of work, Mabel loved spending time outdoors on her riding mower and traveling with her family in their motor home, creating treasured memories while exploring the country together. Any trip was made even more enjoyable with a stop at the casino along the way.
She enjoyed keeping her mind sharp with Sudoku and number puzzles, never giving up until she found the solution. Mabel also loved playing games with family and friends, especially bingo, and she always welcomed a gift of instant lottery scratch-offs. To her family, she was known as the luckiest winner of them all.
Mabel will be fondly remembered for her fun-loving and spirited personality and for the special way she made everyone feel loved, welcomed and appreciated.
Precious memories of Mabel live on with her daughter, Cheryl Zimmet (Lloyd); her two sons, Dale Haines (Mary Ellen) and Jeffrey Suzelis (Paula); five grandchildren, Josh (Tracy), Joe (Sarah), Brandon, Matthew and Nick; three great-grandchildren, Elliot, Bryson and Elliot; and her sister, Patty Lough (Jack).
Preceding her in death were her parents; her beloved husband of nearly 49 years, Walter Suzelis, whom she married Sept. 3, 1966, and who passed June 15, 2015; her grandson, Jeremy; her sister, Donna; and three brothers, Larry, Chuck and Bob.
Private services will be conducted at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, material contributions may be made in Mabel’s name to the Hope Cancer Center, 700 Howland Wilson Road SE, Warren, OH 44484, 330-856-8600.
