A new sketch has been released of a suspect accused of sexually assaulting a woman in broad daylight at a Chicago forest preserve over the weekend.
Authorities say the assault happened in LaBagh Woods at approximately 12:30 p.m. Saturday. A 29-year-old woman who was hiking in the preserve was grabbed by a male suspect and assaulted in an off-trail area approximately 500 feet from the parking lot.
The woman was taken to a local hospital for treatment, and the suspect fled the scene on foot, police said.
On Tuesday, a sketch was released of the suspect, who is described as a white male standing approximately 6 feet tall with a long brown and blonde beard reaching down to his chest. He was wearing a dark shirt, black beanie hat and a zip-up black jacket with a red stripe on the shoulder.
Anyone with information on the attack is urged to call Cook County dispatchers at 847-635-1188.
In the meantime, police have stepped up patrols in the area, with more bike and ATV patrols and more police presence in the parking lots at the preserve.
