As the college football landscape continues to shift, Georgia coach Kirby Smart is expressing concerns over college athletics as a whole.
Speaking to reporters at the SEC spring meetings on Tuesday, Smart spoke up for non-revenue sports who he feels may be suffering as a result of the increase in spending in football.
“My biggest concern for our sport is we’re going to ruin all the other sports,” Smart said. “We’re going to lose that if we keep spending.”

One example of Smart’s concern nearly played out this spring. Arkansas initially announced it was cutting its men’s and women’s tennis programs due to financial constraints, but later reversed that decision.
Smart’s comments come as spending on college football rosters continues to increase despite the cap that was installed as part of the House settlement agreement last summer.
