PERINTON, N.Y. — The man accused of stabbing a hiker on Indian Hill Trail in Perinton was found guilty after rejecting a plea deal earlier this month.
Dylan Ghaemi was walking on the tral when Derrick Van Epps attacked him. Ghaemi suffered cuts to his head, neck and face in the unprovoked attack last June.
Prosecutors say the suspect targeted Ghaemi because of his race, skin color and national origin. News10NBC Chief Investigative Reporter Berkley Brean spoke with Ghaemi about what he was thinking during the attack.

Van Epps was found guilty on all county after his jury trail in Rochester on Tuesday. He was charged with attempted murder and assault. He faces 8-25 years in prison.
