ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Supporters rallied outside the federal building Tuesday morning as Dolores Bustamante appeared in court.
Bustamante is the Wayne County woman who was detained by ICE last month during a routine check-in with immigration authorities.

Her legal team argued Tuesday that her detention is illegal and she should be released while her case proceeds.
“I think we’re going in with a positive attitude. We know that justice looks like Dolores being free and we hope that that’s what’s going to happen today,” said Jessica Maxwell, executive director of Center of Central New York.
Bustamante has no criminal record. She’s lived in the U.S. for 26 years and has become a locally well-known advocate for farm workers’ rights.
