After 10 seasons as Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola has taken charge of his final game at the club. We look at the key numbers behind a sensational decade as City boss.
It’s the end of an era at Manchester City, as their most successful manager, Pep Guardiola, has departed after 10 years in charge.
The five-time Premier League Manager of the Season leaves having transformed their trophy cabinet, winning honours across seven different competitions during his time in Manchester.
His quest to sign off as a Premier League champion ultimately fell short, but he still departed with silverware, lifting both the FA Cup and League Cup in 2025-26. It was just the sixth time a team has managed that feat, though City also won both under Guardiola in 2018-19.
But which numbers best define Guardiola’s time in England? Here are seven that tell the story of his spell at City.
20 – Titles Won at Man City
Guardiola led Manchester City to 20 different titles across his time at the club. The most frequent of those was the Premier League, which he won six times in his 10 seasons.
In leading City to the 2025-26 League Cup with a win over Arsenal in the final at Wembley, Guardiola secured a record-breaking fifth EFL Cup title, overtaking Alex Ferguson, José Mourinho and Brian Clough (4). He won his first four EFL Cups in four consecutive seasons between 2017 and 2021 – another record.
City’s 1-0 FA Cup final win over Chelsea brought him a third FA Cup, a tally bettered by only four managers in history. Most notably, City became the first side to win 100% of their matches across both the FA Cup and League Cup in a single season during their 2025-26 campaigns.
In 2018-19, Man City became the first men’s team to win the domestic treble in England, winning the Premier League, FA Cup and League Cup.
In 2022-23, they followed that by winning the ‘proper’ treble, sealing it with a 1-0 Champions League final victory over Inter after already lifting the Premier League and FA Cup.
To complete his trophy collection at City, Guardiola also led them to glory in three Community Shield matches, as well as securing both the UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup in 2023.
6 – Premier League Trophies
Six of Guardiola’s 20 trophies at City came in the Premier League, making him the joint second-most decorated manager in English top-flight history.
Only Alex Ferguson (13) has won more English top-flight titles than he has (6), with City’s Premier League victory in 2023-24 taking him level with Liverpool’s legendary boss Bob Paisley and Aston Villa’s George Ramsay.
Four of those titles came in successive seasons between 2020-21 and 2023-24; it’s the only time that has been achieved in English top-flight history.
His final two seasons saw City miss out on the title, meaning Guardiola went without a league championship in consecutive campaigns for the first time in his managerial career.
593 – Games in Charge
Guardiola’s final game in charge of Man City, a 2-1 loss to Aston Villa on the final day of the 2025-26 Premier League season, was his 593rd as their manager in all competitions.
That match saw him overtake Les McDowall’s total of 592 matches as City boss, set between 1950 and 1963.
Unsurprisingly, Guardiola leaves Man City as their most successful manager of all time based on win percentage (70.2%) and total wins (416).
Across those games, Guardiola faced 159 different managers and recorded wins against 142 of them. The only managers to face him more than once and avoid defeat were Fabian Hürzeler (W2 D2), Ronald Koeman (W1 D2), Bruno Génésio (W1 D1) and Álvaro Arbeloa (W2), with the latter being the only manager to face him at least twice and win each time.
2.28 – Points per Game
Guardiola’s place in Premier League history is secured. He has the best points-per-game (2.28) rate of any manager to take charge of 20+ games in the competition’s history.
Despite managing fewer games than several contemporaries, Guardiola sits fourth on the list of managers with the most victories in Premier League history (269), behind only Ferguson (528), Arsène Wenger (476) and David Moyes (290).
The Spaniard, however, has the best win rate of any manager in the top 10 for most wins (71%).
Since 2016-17 when he joined City, Guardiola has won 269 league games. That tally is well clear of his closest competitor, Diego Simeone (223), while only Hansi Flick and Luis Enrique have had a better win ratio than Guardiola’s 71% among managers to take charge of 100+ games in that time.
Over his 380 Premier League games, his City side have accumulated 865 points, 64 more than any other team.
100 – Points Won in 2017-18
City’s 2017-18 campaign raised the bar. Their 100 points remains a Premier League record, reached with a stoppage-time winner from Gabriel Jesus against Southampton on the final day.
In what was Guardiola’s first Premier League title, their tally of 32 wins set a new English top-flight record for a single season, but they replicated this feat a year later when winning the title again in 2018-19, albeit with two points fewer (98).
The 2017-18 season also saw City score 106 goals in the Premier League, the most by any side in a single campaign since the competition began in 1992. The previous top-flight team to net more in an English league season were Spurs in 1962-63 (111).
All these records helped City smash yet another one: winning the Premier League title by a huge 19 points over second-placed Manchester United.
Eighteen of City’s 32 wins came in a consecutive run between 26 August and 27 December 2017, setting another Premier League record (which has since been equalled by Liverpool).
591 – Successful Passes per Game
Guardiola’s influence on English football has been astounding. He not only transformed the way that Man City played football, but that also had a knock-on effect at other clubs across the country.
Since such records began in 2008-09, no team under a single manager (20+ games) have averaged more successful passes per game than Man City under Guardiola (591). Only six other managers across those 18 seasons have seen their sides average over 500 successful passes per game.
The top seven totals for completed passes by teams in a Premier League season since 2008-09 all belong to Man City under Guardiola, with 2017-18 (25,142) the highest tally on record. It’s a similar story for possession, with the top eight seasonal possession figures across those 18 seasons all belonging to a Guardiola-led City side.
111 – Players to Make an Appearance
Guardiola’s time at Man City saw him use 111 different players across all competitions, though some were far more influential than others.
Bernardo Silva was Guardiola’s most-trusted player, and someone who also said his farewells to City fans in the final-day defeat to Aston Villa.
The Portuguese played 460 times under Guardiola – 79 more than the next most, Kevin De Bruyne (381). Perhaps unsurprisingly, 329 of Guardiola’s 416 wins came with Bernardo Silva playing some part (71.5%).
Ederson made the most starts at City across Guardiola’s reign (371), with the goalkeeper also accumulating the most minutes on pitch (33,168).
De Bruyne assisted 158 of Man City’s goals under Guardiola, with that tally more than double the next highest by a City player across his reign (Bernardo Silva’s 75).
Erling Haaland scored a sensational 162 goals in 198 games with Guardiola as his boss, adding another 29 assists to total 191 goal involvements. He was one of four players to surpass a century of goals at City under the Spanish coach, alongside Sergio Agüero (124), Raheem Sterling (120) and Phil Foden (110).
An additional 20 players were named in a competitive matchday squad during Guardiola’s reign at City but never got off the bench.
