In the final quarter of the Mumbai Indians’ (MI) IPL 2026 group stage matches, there were a lot of rumors around Suryakumar Yadav’s fitness. Like the team, Yadav’s individual performance was also something not to remember. On social media platforms, some of the cricket fans claimed that the batter had a wrist injury.
Because of the heavy, relentless rumors over Suryakumar Yadav’s fitness, some doubts emerged as well. Ahead of MI’s final match in the ongoing Indian Premier League season, which was against the Rajasthan Royals, the batter himself clears all the theories related to a possible wrist injury.
Suryakumar Yadav mentioned that he has no wrist injury, so those rumors and claims on social media platforms are false and baseless. The middle-order batter tried to explain that if he really had an issue with his wrist, then he would not be able to play those flick shots. Flicks are completely based on hand-eye coordination. If he had a wrist injury, then it was practically not played possible for him to play a flick shot.
“First of all, I'd like to clear the air a little bit. The people talking about a wrist injury are either pure physios or people who don't understand cricket. Because if I really had a wrist injury or such a problem, then the shots I've been playing in practice and in matches, especially my flick shots, which are completely wrist-based and depend on hand-eye coordination, I wouldn't have been able to play those shots, Yadav told the broadcasters ahead of the MI vs RR IPL 2026 match.
“But I don't want to say much about that because it's not in my control. These are all uncontrollable factors, and I don't pay too much attention to them,” he added further.

SKY kept working hard in trainings
The 35-year-old batter sustained an underwhelming season. Because of the bad patch, Suryakumar Yadav had to go past a lot of criticism as well. Though the batter himself claimed that he did everything in the training. He worked hard relentlessly, but the desired result did not come.
"As you said, I've worked hard throughout the season. I worked hard at the start of the year as well. In the New Zealand series, I won the Player of the Series award. Then I had a good World Cup, at least according to me. Then came the IPL. I didn't score runs in the IPL, but I never stopped working hard," he said.
Performance is never guaranteed: Suryakumar Yadav
Yadav further said that as a cricketer, he could only try hard, and he did that too. But performance is never guaranteed.
"I try to focus on what is in my hands. At the end of the day, performance is never guaranteed. What is in your control is hard work. So I keep working hard and try to put my best foot forward. If success comes, that's great. If it doesn't, that's okay too. We'll go back to the drawing board and work hard again. God is watching. Sooner or later, the rewards will come," he added.
