Will there be a Two Weeks in August season 2?

*Warning - contains full spoilers for all eight episodes of Two Weeks in August.*

All eight episodes of Catherine Shepherd's Greece-set drama series Two Weeks in August are available to watch on BBC iPlayer now, telling the story of a nightmarish group holiday.

The series centres on Jessica Raine's Zoe, who arrives at a Greek villa with her husband Dan (Damien Molony) to meet their friends Solomon (Nicholas Pinnock), Jess (Antonia Thomas), Nat (Leila Farzad) and Jacob (Hugh Skinner).

Things very quickly go off the rails, and Zoe goes on quite the journey throughout the episodes. But, in spite of all these issues, could this group be going on another trip together in a second season of the drama?

Read on for everything you need to know about the potential for a Two Weeks in August season 2.

Will there be a Two Weeks in August season 2?

We don't yet know whether there will be a season 2 of Two Weeks in August. The first season wrapped up most of the central storylines and conflicts, and we're not sure we can envisage this group jumping at the chance for another two weeks' holiday together after what they just endured.

However, never say never. There are certainly ways to bring the group back together, and Jacob and Nat stars Hugh Skinner and Leila Farzad have already expressed interest in a return.

Speaking exclusively with Radio Times, Skinner said that he would "love to do more if there was to be more."

Meanwhile, Farzad concurred, but said it was a question for creator Catherine Shepherd as to whether a second season was in the offing.

"I think we would all love to be reunited, because we all got on so well," she said. "But whether there’s more tales to tell with this gang, I don't know. You'd have to put them somewhere very different, I think."

"And create new problems," Skinner added, with Farzad saying: "Yes, there's resolution at this point but they’d have to have the resolution fail and we start again with other problems. But I think we'd all love to spend time together again."

We will keep this page updated as and when we hear anything more regarding a potential continuation of Two Weeks in August.

When would a potential Two Weeks in August season 2 be released?

If Two Weeks in August were to be renewed for a second season, it could in theory be turned around relatively quickly. The series was first officially announced in February 2025, with the episodes releasing just over a year later.

However, speaking with Radio Times Shepherd did admit that the series actually took "many years" to develop and write, calling the process "long" and "challenging".

"I thought about it as a film initially, and then I met up with someone from BBC and talked about it, and they were like, 'This is a TV idea – why don’t you write it up as a TV idea?,'" Shepherd said. "So I wrote two scripts, episodes 1 and 2. And then went to various artists and developed it with them over many years.

"It was a long process. The scripts were challenging. There were so many characters and all of their stories intersect, so I set myself a challenge. Getting it set up was complicated. It took several years to come to fruition."

As the series is now set up and the concept is proven with a first season, we imagine a second wouldn't take as long to put together, but it may not be as swift a turnaround as some programmes.

We would therefore envisage that a late 2027 release date could be possible - although this is just speculation at this point. We will keep this page updated on any news regarding the show's future as and when we get it.

Who would return to star in a potential Two Weeks in August season 2?

If Two Weeks in August were to return, then we would certainly expect the central six characters to be back - Jessica Raine's Zoe, Damien Molony's Dan, Antonia Thomas's Jess, Nicholas Pinnock's Solomon, Leila Farzad's Nat and Hugh Skinner's Jacob.

Meanwhile, Dylan Brady's Will could also return given where the season ended with him and Jacob, and Avery could also be back to accompany her dad Solomon on another holiday.

Figures were are less likely to see back are those specific to the holiday location, such as local Jon (Khalil Gharbia) and expats Flick (Dolly Wells) and James (Tom Goodman-Hill). It seems unlikely the group would be going back to the same location - not after that holiday.

For now, of course, this is all speculation, but here's a list of the stars from season 1 we could expect to see back in a potential season 2:

Jessica Raine as ZoeDamien Molony as DanAntonia Thomas as JessNicholas Pinnock as SolomonLeila Farzad as NatHugh Skinner as JacobDylan Brady as WillMaria Almeida as Avery
