In the reverse fixture of the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) hosted the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium, Hyderabad. The Orange Army had their revenge over the reigning champions, beating them by 55 runs. RCB, despite the defeat, finished at the top of the table and will face Gujarat Titans in Qualifier 1.
Pat Cummins won the toss and elected to bat first; the Orange Army played the same team from their win against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK). RCB captain Rajat Patidar made just one change as the skipper was back after missing the last game, with Jacob Bethell out due to an injury.
After opting to bat first, the destructive opening pair of SRH, Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma, were off to a blazing start. They stitched a partnership of 45 runs for the first wicket before the latter was dismissed on the score of 26 runs, and then Abhishek took charge, scoring fifty in 20 balls, and was soon back, scoring 56 runs.
Then Ishan Kishan and Heinrich Klaasen took over and continued the carnage, hitting. Kishan brought up his half-century in 31 balls, and the hundred partnership between them came in just 42 balls. The Proteas batter scored his fifty in 23 deliveries. Krunal Pandya broke the partnership of 113 runs, picking the wicket of Klaasen.
The Orange Army finished off high on the score of 255/4 runs in the 20 overs. Kishan was out on the final ball of the innings with the score of 79 runs off 46 balls, and Nitish Kumar Reddy played an impactful, fiery knock of 29 runs off 12 deliveries.
Coming out to chase, RCB opened with Venkatesh Iyer and Virat Kohli. The former was the aggressor, firing all guns blazing as they scored 60 runs for the first wicket in four overs. Venky Uer was back after scoring 44 runs off 19 deliveries, as Eshan Malinga provided the breakthrough. Soon Kohli also departed for 15 runs.
Devdutt Padikkal was back, scoring 21 off 14 balls, then captain Rajat Patidar and Krunal Pandya stitched a partnership, as the skipper brought his half-century in 37 balls. Travis Head broke the partnership of 84 runs as the RCB captain departed for 56 runs. RCB finished off the score of 200 runs.
