ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Grayson Williams, a kindergartener at Walt Disney Elementary School in Gates, is being honored for raising money to build a playground for children of all abilities.

He’s among this year’s recipients of the Do the Right Thing awards. Imagination Childcare in Gates has been fundraising for a new inclusive playground, and one of their best fundraisers so far is Grayson.

    Grayson attended Imagination Childcare and became interested in the playground project. Last June, he took part in a walk-a-thon fundraiser. He has helped raise more than $1,500 for the project, even donating from his own piggy bank.

    Any student in grades K-12 in a Monroe County school is eligible for a nomination. The good deed must have occurred within one year of the nomination. Anyone over 18 years of age can submit a nomination form, including family, friends, school staff, and coaches.
