Coronation Street airs flashback scenes as character charged with Theos murder in early ITVX release

Have the Weatherfield police found the right person? A Coronation Street resident has been charged with the murder of Theo Silverton (James Cartwright), despite their insistence that they didn't do it.

As it stands, it's likely that they're innocent.

We know, through quotes from series producer Kate Brooks to Radio Times and other media, that the reveal of the murderer won't come until late June or July.

"It's a massive story, there’s so many different twists, and there's so many different offshoots to the story as well," she explained.

"You think you're watching one thing, and then it diverts into a completely new kind of story territory. It'll definitely keep people guessing."

Thus far, George Shuttleworth (Tony Maudsley), his partner Christina Boyd (Amy Robbins), Gary Windass (Mikey North) and Summer Spellman (Harriet Bibby) have found themselves facing tough police questioning.

While the former three have managed to evade any further action, Summer was arrested earlier this week after George spoke to DS Lisa Connor-Swain (Vicky Myers) about her suspicious behaviour.

She'd burnt a number of pages in her journal which detailed how she wanted to aim a gun at Theo's head, and denied running away from the direction of his flat on the night he died.

Summer's brooch was also found at the scene of the crime, with today's flashbacks revealing that it fell off her coat following an argument with Theo.

He'd told her that if she dared speak up about his wrongdoings, he'd ensure that she was killed – just like he took Billy Mayhew's (Daniel Brocklebank) life.

Summer had spent the night in the cells, begging to be released. Tensions were running high on the cobbles too, as George and Christina decided to come clean to Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce) about their involvement in her arrest.

Todd was in disbelief that the man he considered to be a father would betray their family.

Back at the station, Lisa interviewed Summer, revealing that Theo's blood was found on her brooch. She tried to explain herself, saying that it must have happened during her brief altercation with him.

Summer also recalled rushing out of the flat, and being spotted by Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall). Unfortunately, when Lisa visited No. 9 to see if he would corroborate her story, he denied everything and looked quite sheepish.

With the evidence stacked up against her, Summer was charged. She broke down in tears, wondering why Tyrone had lied to the police.

What is he hiding, and is Summer really guilty?
