Indian hockey stars Manpreet Singh and Hardik Singh have welcomed the idea of the two of them and their teammates taking on former India cricket captain Virat Kohli in a Yo-Yo Test.
Kohli had recently compared the fitness of cricket and hockey players during an event.
At the RCB Innovation Lab Indian Sports Summit on Tuesday, Kohli spoke about his thoughts on fitness across different sports.
“I know people sometimes look at fitness as something extraordinary, but for me, it's simply what the job demands. It should be the norm, not something celebrated as special. Cricket is in such prime focus in our country that we often overlook other sports,” Kohli said.
“If I'm being brutally honest, we are not even 15% of the fitness of an Indian hockey player. If the hockey players watch our training sessions, they'd probably laugh because their sport demands far more physicality," he added.
At the same event, Indian Men's hockey captain Harmanpreet Singh said that even the goalkeepers of the team regularly register a score over 20 in the Yo-Yo Test since the game is very fast-paced.

"I will definitely invite him" - Manpreet Singh
In an interview with RevSportz, Indian hockey stars Manpreet Singh and Hardik Singh talked about the prospects of them facing off against star Indian batter Virat Kohli in a Yo-Yo Test.
Referring to Kohli's recent comments, the hockey stars were asked whether they would invite Kohli to a challenge.
"Yes, I would definitely invite him. I actually hope that the whole RCB team comes with him. Our team will be on this side, and we will compete." Manpreet said.
Manpreet was then asked if he was only agreeing to the test because he knew he would win, but he refuted that and outlined the different requirements of the two sports.
"If you look at it, their game [cricket] is also very difficult. The ball comes so close to you, and if you ask us to bat against balls coming at 150 kmph, then it will be difficult for us as well. The requirements of the two games are completely different. In cricket, hand-eye coordination is also needed to be able to play your shots," Manpree continued.

Hardik Singh then took over and said that the eyeballs that a fitness challenge against Virat Kohli would bring would ultimately be very helpful for Indian hockey.
Hardik was asked who he would support in a Yo-Yo Test competition between Virat Kohli and Manpreet Singh. Hardik chose the latter.
"I have to support him [Manpreet Singh] because he is my teammate. But, I think it's gonna be very good for the two sports when players interact with each other. You look at the US, where the athletes of different sports interact with each other whenever they come to the Olympics and other events like that. So, I think that this interaction will benefit both sports," Hardik Singh said.
