LSU closed out Day 1 in Hoover with a 6-2 victory over Oklahoma on Tuesday night.
The Tigers trailed after 4 innings, but took the lead on a throwing error in the 5th inning. LSU scored 3 runs in the 5th frame and never looked back as the Sooners were blanked over the final 5 stanzas.

Reliever Devin Sheerin slammed the door shut, though, limiting Oklahoma to 1 hit while striking out 6 over the final 3.1 innings.
This was an important result for an LSU program that has struggled mightily during the regular season. Without a deep run in Hoover, the Tigers are in jeopardy of missing the NCAA Tournament altogether.

Entering the week, D1Baseball had LSU off of its bubble for its latest Field of 64 projection. As of Monday, the Tigers ranked 69th nationally in RPI — well outside the range of a typical at-large selection.
