Earlier today, the Brown University women’s team announced the hiring of Lauren Sullivan as a new assistant head coach for the 2026-27 swim season.
Sullivan has been with the University of Arizona Wildcats for the last two seasons, serving as an assistant coach and assistant recruiting coordinator during her time with the program.
She helped lead both men’s and women’s teams to two straight second place finishes at the Big 12 Championships. Last season, the team set 18 top-ten program times, broke two school records, and set nine NCAA relay ‘A’ cuts.
Sullivan said “”I am incredibly excited to continue my coaching career at Brown and join a program that truly embodies excellence in every way. I’m thrilled for this next chapter and the chance to work with such an incredible team while helping move the program forward at the highest level. I want to thank Mitch for believing in me and giving me the opportunity to be part of building something special. Go Bruno!”
She joins new head coach Mitch Dalton, who became the head coach of the program last month after spending six seasons at the University of Texas.
Dalton said, “She is one of the most sought-after young assistant coaches in the country, and from the very beginning it was clear that she aligned with the vision we are building at Brown — returning this program to the top of the Ivy League and competing nationally at the NCAA level.
“What stood out to me immediately was her ability to build meaningful, lasting relationships with student-athletes while also maintaining an incredibly high standard of performance and accountability. Those qualities matter deeply to me and to the culture we want to create here.”
Sullivan was an assistant coach at George Washington for a season before she joined the staff at Arizona, and she was also a graduate assistant at Northeastern for two seasons.
