Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

World Junior Championships qualifier Janet Chen from Taiwan will make her way across the Pacific to swim for Fresno State University beginning in the fall of 2026.

“So excited to officially become a Bulldog! I’m incredibly grateful for the endless support from my family and coaches throughout this entire journey. Without them, this wouldn’t be possible. I’m honored to continue my academic and swimming career at Fresno State and can’t wait for the next four years! Go Bulldogs!”

Originally from Hsinchu City in Taipei, Chen currently trains with the Taiwanese Swimming Federation and primarily specializes in the breaststroke and freestyle events.

Chen competed in four individual events at the 2025 World Aquatics Junior Championships (LCM) last August. She placed 27th in the 50 breast (32.88), 33rd in the 100 breast (1:15.39), 51st in the 50 free (27.25) and 60th in the 100 free (1:00.15). She also turned in a lifetime best time of 2:18.28 in the 200 free as the leadoff on Taiwan’ 800 free relay team.

Chen has logged a series of lifetime best performances over the course of this past season. At the 2025 Yunlin National Games (LCM) in October, she posted a personal best time of 26.67 in the 50 free. A few weeks later, she followed it up with a lifetime best time of 32.37 in the 50 breast at the 3rd Asian Youth Games.

Most recently, Chen raced at the 2026 National High School Games (LCM) in April, where she turned in a series of strong performances. She posted personal best times of 1:13.28 in the 100 breast and 4:38.24 in the 400 IM, in addition to contesting the 50 free (26.84) and 50 breast (32.40).

    Best Times LCM (SCY Conversion)

    50 breast – 32.37 (28.26) 100 breast – 1:13.28 (1:04.21) 50 free – 26.67 (23.30) 100 free – 59.95 (52.56) 200 free – 2:18.28 (2:01.69)

A Division I Mid-Major program in the Mountain West Conference, Fresno State’s women’s team took 4th at this past season’s conference championships in February. The Bulldogs sent three athletes to compete at the NCAA Division I Women’s Championship, where they finished 42nd overall.

Based on the results from the 2026 Mountain West Conference Championships, Chen’s projected converted times would have landed her in the ‘C’ final in the 50 free and 100 breast, giving her a chance to score a few points early on for the Bulldogs. On the team itself, Chen is poised to rank 2nd in the 50 breast and 3rd in the 50 free and 100 breast, although that does not account for the other incoming freshmen.

Joining Chen in Fresno in the fall are Aliz Szilvási-Hazag (free/fly/IM), Bella Benes (diving), Aylah Angeles (diving) and Emma Price (free/IM), who should all make for strong training partners over the next four years.
