Hanover Park have released new details after a suspect was taken into custody after an hours-long standoff.
According to authorities, officers were called to a residence in the 6500 block of Church Street at approximately 10 p.m. Sunday night for reports of an armed suspect who was threatening suicide.
During the course of the ensuing standoff, officers evacuated surrounding homes, and were able to evacuate the individual’s family.
As the heavily police presence continued, multiple streets were closed to traffic, and schools in the area were placed into a soft lockdown.
During the incident, the suspect allegedly fired multiple shots inside the residence, but no one was hit by gunfire.
At approximately 10 a.m., 12 hours into the standoff, the suspect was taken into custody without incident.
That man remains in custody, and an investigation remains ongoing into the incident.
