NFL Announces World Tour Before 2026 Season

The National Football League is taking American football around the world in a way fans have never seen before.

The league officially revealed its 2026 international schedule through a video posted on Instagram, teasing games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, London, U.K., Paris, France, Madrid, Spain, Munich, Germany and Mexico City while calling the event the “NFL World Tour.”

“NFL World Tour coming to a stadium near you,” the caption read.

Fans quickly filled the comments section with excitement and requests for even more cities.

“We need one in Barcelona next,” one user wrote.

Another added, “I love ...NFL, from Bogotá Colombia.”

“Bears to Mexico please and thank you,” one fan pleaded.

The announcement comes as the NFL prepares for the largest international slate in league history. The 2026 season will feature nine games played outside the United States across seven countries and four continents. It will also mark the first regular-season NFL games ever played in Australia and France.

The global schedule begins in Week 1 when the Los Angeles Rams face the San Francisco 49ers at Melbourne Cricket Ground in Australia on Sept. 10. The matchup will stream on Netflix.

In Week 3, the Dallas Cowboys take on the Baltimore Ravens at Maracanã Stadium in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The NFL previously played games in São Paulo, but this will be the league’s first regular-season game in Rio.

London will again host three straight weeks of NFL action. The Washington Commanders will play the Indianapolis Colts at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in Week 4. A week later, the Jacksonville Jaguars meet the Philadelphia Eagles at the same venue before the Jaguars stay in England to face the Houston Texans at Wembley Stadium in Week 6.

The Jaguars continue to be one of the league’s most active international franchises. According to league history, Jacksonville has played more international games than any other NFL team, mostly in London.

History will also be made in Paris when the New Orleans Saints battle the Pittsburgh Steelers at Stade de France in Week 7. It will be the first NFL regular-season game ever played in France.

Madrid joins the schedule in Week 9 when the Atlanta Falcons face the Cincinnati Bengals at Santiago Bernabéu Stadium. Spain hosted its first NFL regular-season game only recently, and the league is already returning with another marquee matchup.

Germany’s game will take place in Munich during Week 10, as the Detroit Lions meet the New England Patriots at Allianz Arena.

The international tour wraps up in Mexico City in Week 11 with the Minnesota Vikings facing the 49ers at Estadio Azteca on Sunday Night Football.

NFL World Tour Signals League’s Global Growth

The NFL’s international push has grown rapidly over the past two decades. The first regular-season NFL game outside the United States happened on Oct. 2, 2005, when the Arizona Cardinals defeated the 49ers in Mexico City in front of more than 103,000 fans.

The official International Series was later launched in London in 2007, with the New York Giants defeating the Miami Dolphins at Wembley Stadium.

Since then, the NFL has expanded to Germany, Brazil, Spain and now Australia and France. Reports also suggest the league could increase the number of international games to 11 by the 2027 season.

The 2026 schedule release show is set for May 14 at 8 p.m. ET on NFL Network, NFL+, ESPN, and the ESPN app.

With games planned across Australia, South America, Europe and Mexico, the NFL’s “World Tour” is becoming one of the league’s biggest entertainment events yet.
