Alabama men’s basketball booked a home-and-home series with Seton Hall, Yea Alabama — the school’s NIL collective — announced Friday.
The Crimson Tide will host the first leg of the home-and-home at Coleman Coliseum on Nov. 13, and travel to Newark, New Jersey, for the return leg in the 2027-28 season. A date has yet to be announced for the latter game.
Alabama has faced Seton Hall just twice all-time, with the two teams splitting the pair of contests. The Crimson Tide downed the Pirates 85-79 in Tuscaloosa in their first-ever meeting on March 13, 2001, then fell 83-78 to Seton Hall in the Paradise Jam tournament in the U.S. Virgin Islands on Nov. 19, 2010.
Seton Hall narrowly missed the NCAA tournament field last season, as head coach Shaheen Holloway earned Big East Coach of the Year honors. The Pirates got off to a 14-2 start — earning the No. 25 spot in the Week 10 AP Top 25 — but struggled to end the regular season and finished 20-11. This lull included a four-game losing streak with close losses to UConn and St. John’s.
The team declined invitations to postseason tournaments after missing out on the Big Dance following another close loss to St. John’s, the eventual Big East champion, in the Big East tournament semifinal.
Alabama is also expected to face the Red Storm this season in the C.M. Newton Classic in Birmingham, after the Crimson Tide pulled off a 103-96 upset win over St. John’s in Madison Square Garden last fall.
The Crimson Tide will again participate in the Players Era Festival in Las Vegas, after narrowly falling to Oregon in the championship game in 2024 and coming up short in a loss to Gonzaga in 2025.
