Traffic is recovering on Interstate 80 in Solano County on Friday afternoon after an incident involving a person barricaded in a vehicle.
Dixon police say, around 3 p.m., they started getting reports about an allegedly reckless driver. An officer spotted the suspect on Pedrick Road, near Vaughn Road.
The suspect then allegedly swerved into the officer's lane, police say, prompting the officer to drive off into the shoulder to avoid a crash. The officer then turned around and started chasing the suspect, but they refused to pull over.
At one point, the suspect allegedly swerved again into the wrong direction -- right at an oncoming big rig. This prompted the officer to break off the chase.
Officers soon spotted the suspect on North First Street and tried to pull them over again, but the suspect wouldn't yield. The suspect eventually led officers on a chase onto eastbound I-80.
As the suspect was getting onto the freeway, however, police say their vehicle stopped and wouldn't move anymore.
With the suspect refusing to get out, several other law enforcement agencies were called to the scene. Pepper rounds were shot at the suspect, finally prompting the person to get out.
Still, police say the suspect wouldn't listen to their commands. A K9 was finally deployed and helped take the suspect into custody.
Police have not released the name of the suspect, but the person is facing a slew of charges: reckless driving, assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer, felony evading, and resisting arrest.
All lanes of I-80 are now back open. Drivers should expect residual delays as traffic catches back up.
