PENFIELD, N.Y. — Penfield High School’s e-sports team is bringing home a state championship.
Penfield Central School DistrictSophomores Evan Benedict, Robert Baldasty, and Charles Cottone, who make up Penfield’s team, captured the program’s first state title at the 2026 Empire State Scholastic Esports Federation (ESSEF) Championship.
This year’s championship was held at Syracuse University earlier this month.
The club’s Marvel Rivals team took second place.
The club’s next challenge is the PlayVersus Cup High School National E-Sports Championship, which starts Monday.
