ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Rochester City School District students and mentors from the city’s Pillars of Hope program celebrated the coming end of the school year with music, activities and opportunities to meet the city’s finest and bravest at the Rochester Community Sports Complex.
Pillars of Hope pairs teams of Black and Latino professionals with schools to act as role models for students and give them the chance to see professionals who look like them.
One Pillar volunteer hopes you’ll consider volunteering, too.
“I’ve been doing this since 2015 and I’ve seen six sixth grade classes graduate high school. And then when they ask ‘Hey can Mr. Roland come to my graduation’, you know you’ve made an impact when they remember you six years later graduating from high school,” Roland Delardge said.
If you’d like to become a Pillars of Hope mentor, email [email protected]. To learn more about the program, visit the City of Rochester’s website here.
