Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Futures finalist Ridley Hagerman has announced her commitment to swim for the University of Michigan beginning in the fall of 2026 after initially verbally committing to the U.S. Naval Academy.

“After careful consideration and unanticipated circumstances, I have decided to continue my academic and athletic career at the University of Michigan! I would like to thank the coaches at Michigan for this incredible opportunity and the women’s swim team for being so kind and welcoming. Also a big thank you to Coach Shawn and the TOPS staff for being very supportive and helpful throughout this process. I’m super excited and grateful to begin this new chapter as a Michigan Wolverine. Go Blue!”

The Colorado native is wrapping up her senior year at Broomfield High School, where she competed for the school’s varsity swimming and diving team all four years. In addition to swimming for the Eagles, Hagerman currently trains year-round with the University of Denver Hilltoppers, where she primarily specializes in mid-distance and distance freestyle.

Hagerman helped Broomfield win its first-ever state title at the 2026 CHSAA (Colorado High School Activities Association) Girls 4A State Championship in February. She won the 500 free (4:53.03) and took the runner-up spot in the 200 free (1:50.04) [1:48.84 altitude adjusted], in addition to helping the Eagles to victory in both the 400 free relay and 200 medley relay.

At the 2025 Winter Junior Championships – West back in December, Hagerman posted a series of top performances. She placed 10th in the 500 free (4:47.71 – PB), 11th in the 1000 free (9:56.34 – PB), 14th in the 1650 free (16:43.55 – SB) and 34th in the 200 free (1:50.50 – SB).

Hagerman turned in another string of strong performances at the 2026 Four Corners Speedo Sectional Championships in March, posting three new lifetime bests and earning a second swim in two events. She took 2nd in the 1000 free (9:52.57 – PB), 3rd in the 1650 free (16:40.84 – PB), 3rd in the 500 free (4:48.15) and 6th in the 200 free (1:49.40). She also logged a personal best time of 58.42 in the 100 back as the leadoff on the 400 medley relay.

Last summer, Hagerman raced at the 2025 Futures Championships (LCM) in Sacramento, where she earned a second swim in two events. She snagged the runner-up spot in the 1500 free (17:17.60 – PB) and placed 5th in the 800 free (9:03.82 – PB), 6th in the 400 free (4:24.26 – PB) and 29th in the 200 free (2:07.98 – SB). She also contested the 50 fly (30.07 – PB).

A Division I program in the Big Ten Conference, Michigan’s women’s team took home the title at this past season’s conference championships before sending 11 athletes to compete at the NCAA Championships, where they placed 6th overall. Based on the results from the 2026 Big Ten Conference Championships, Hagerman would have placed 16th in the 1650 free and landed in the ‘C’ final in the 500 free, putting her in a position to score some points early on for the Wolverines.

Set to join Hagerman in Michigan’s class of 2030 are Miyaka Chang, Hazel Huilman, Gioia Balzano and Gilaine Ma, who should all make for strong training partners over the next four years.
