    Rochester traffic enforcement meeting

The City of Rochester wants to get the public’s opinion about whether to bring automated traffic enforcement to the roads. The meetings are part of the “Vision Zero” initiative, which aims to reduce Rochester’s number of deadly crashes to zero.

The city’s series of meetings continues on Wednesday. The meeting starts at 6 p.m. at the Thomas P. Ryan R-Center on 530 Webster Ave. At the meeting, you can learn more about the automated traffic enforcement proposal and share your ideas or concerns.

The final meeting will take place on Saturday, May 16, at 11 a.m. at the Gleason Auditorium within the Rochester Central Library on 115 South Ave.  After the meetings are finished, the city will launch an online survey. To learn more, click here.

Over 60 communities across the U.S. have signed “Vision Zero” pledges. As News10NBC has covered, Rochester’s rate of deadly crashes is among the highest of any midsize city in New York State. State traffic data shows Rochester has about 10 traffic-related deaths per 100,000 people each year.

    Lilac Festival day six

Highland Park is once again full of live music, food, games, and the fragrant scents of lilacs. Wednesday marks day six of the 128th annual Lilac Festival.

In addition, the Lilac Local Farmer’s Market continues. It features fresh fruits, vegetables, handmade goods, and more.

This evening’s music headliner is Mikaela Davis, an acclaimed multi-instrumentalist from Rochester who performs indie, alternative, and Americana. The festival runs through Sunday, May 17, for a total of 10 days in a row. You can learn more about the festival’s schedule here.
