Pat Cummins penalized after SRH’s 82-run defeat against Gujarat Titans

Sunrisers Hyderabad captain Pat Cummins has been penalized for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct in the game between GT and SRH on Tuesday. SRH were handed a crushing defeat as they were bowled out for just 86 runs in the run-chase of 169 runs at the Narendra Modi Stadium, preventing them from topping the IPL 2026 points table. Cummins joins the list of captains who have already been fined this season for maintaining a slow-over rate.

SRH’s Cummins fined for slow-over rate in GT match

As per a press release, Cummins has been handed a fine of Rs 12 lakhs for maintaining a slow-over rate in the game against Gujarat Titans. This is the first instance in IPL 2026 where SRH have been found maintaining a slow-over rate in a game. Cummins returned to IPL on April 25 after missing the first few games as he was yet to be cleared by Cricket Australia. In his absence, Ishan Kishan led the team but wasn’t fined even once for maintaining a slow-over rate during his brief tenure.

“Pat Cummins, Captain, Sunrisers Hyderabad, has been fined after his team maintained a slow over rate during Match No. 56 of TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 against Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. As this was his team’s first offence of the season under Article 2.22 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct, which pertains to minimum over-rate offences, Cummins was fined INR 12 lakhs,” the release stated.
