SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. (KEYT) – A 12-year-old child suffered critical injuries after a car crash while on an e-bike around 4:30 p.m. near DeVaul Park, according to the San Luis Obispo Police Department.
SLO Police were called to the scene near Spooner Drive and Welsh Court for a car versus pedestrian incident.
The child suffered major injuries after not wearing a helmet during the crash and needed treatment at a local hospital before an airlift due to the severity of the injury, according to the SLOPD.
The child is in stable condition at an out-of-area trauma center on Tuesday after undergoing multiple surgeries, according to the SLOPD.
The driver in the crash is a San Luis Obispo resident and cooperated with the investigation. Impairment does not appear to be a factor in the incident, according to the SLOPD.
