2026 CIF State Swimming and Diving Championships

SCY (25 Yards) Meet Central Psych Sheets Qualification timesThe CIF High School Championships have rolled around, a meet that brings together several of the most elite swimmers in the state of California. Section championships took place all throughout last week:
Last week, it was reported that Luka Mijatovic, the national high school record holder in the 500 free, wouldn’t be competing this year. Several other notable athletes won’t be attending this state championship meet despite competing at their section meets, several other notable athletes also won’t be attending these state championships. This includes sophomore Gabi Brito, who posted times of 21.66 and 50.74 in the 50 free and 100 fly, along with Alyssa Ton, SwimSwam’s #4 recruit in the class of 2027. Ton, a junior, won both the 200 (1:45.15) and 500 (4:44.26) frees at the Southern Section D1 Championships.
Nonetheless, fans will still be treated to plenty of fast swimming, as top athletes who do appear on the psych sheets include Indiana commit Kayla Han, Cal commits Kelsey Zhang and Tim Wu, along with USC commit Andrew Maksymowski.
Han, who didn’t swim last year, comes in as the top seed in the 500 free and 2nd seed in the 200 IM, behind only Zhang. While Han has a faster PB than Zhang (1:55.74 to 1:57.09), Han is entered with her winning time from last week’s section championships (1:58.81). Regardless, it’ll be a tight race between the two seniors at their final CIF state championships.
Zhang is also the top seed in the 100 fly, coming in with a time of 52.29. She’ll face off against Tori Yamamura, a Missouri commit who is seeded with a 52.55.
Khanh Seaton, a sophomore from Castro Valley, will look to sweep the sprint freestyle races after winning both events at her section championships last week. She recorded PBs of 22.02/48.58, the latter of which was a CIF North Coast section record. She’ll have to hold off Ava Deanda, the 2nd seed in both events and the 2024 state champion in the 100 free.
Another notable name is Bianca Nwaizu, the sole swimmer in the 100 breast with an entry time under 1:02. The Texas commit, who owns a PB of 59.05, looks primed to run away with a win in this event.
On the boys’ side, Yury Kuzmenko will seek to defend his state titles in both sprint free events. Last year, he claimed victory in the 50 with a time of 19.74 and in the 100 with a time of 43.34. It’ll be a tougher field this time around however, as Jordan Ragland and Tyler Porter, both of whom are also sub-20 in the 50, will be in the hunt for an upset. It’s a similar narrative for the 100, as Ragland is seeded at 42.89, just 0.12 seconds behind Kuzmenko’s 42.77. Ragland also has the faster lifetime best, as he posted a 42.24 to win Winter Juniors – West back in December.
After a tight race that saw Maksymowski eke out the win over Lucas Jue at Southern Section D1 Championships in the 500 free, the two will have a rematch this weekend; they come in as the top two seeds at 4:22.85/4:22.87, respectively. Maksymowski will also race the 200 free, where he’s seeded 2nd behind Stanford commit Nathan Foucu (1:34.55).
Tim Wu will return for his last championships in hopes of defending his 200 IM title. He owns the meet record in the event after taking down 2024 champion Shareef Elaydi last year in a time of 1:44.55. Wu is seeded at 1:45.79, while Elaydi is entered with a time of 1:46.68, which puts him as the 4th fastest entry. Elaydi, a junior from Archbishop Mitty, is also swimming the 100 breast. He’s the defending champion in this event and a huge favorite to win, as his time of 52.01 is over 1.5 seconds ahead of 2nd seed Aidan Collins‘ 53.68.
Last year, the Santa Margarita girls won in dominant fashion, racking up 229.5 points thanks to Teagan O’dell‘s double victory and relay contributions. Meanwhile, the Northwood boys picked up the win with 180 points, defeating Clovis West by 2o points. This weekend, the Santa Margarita girls will aim for their fifth straight state title while the Northwood boys will look to defend their crown. It won’t be an easy road to victory for either team however, as the scored psych sheets have the Campolindo girls taking the win and the top 5 boys teams separated by just 4 points.
