It's been three decades since Arnold Schwarzenegger starred in Christmas film Jingle All the Way back in 1996 – and it's now been confirmed that the Terminator icon will be back for more festive fun this year.
Schwarzenegger will be playing none other than Father Christmas himself in new Yuletide comedy The Man with the Bag, and Amazon has just announced a 2 December release date on Prime Video for the movie.
Adam Shankman – whose previous hits include The Wedding Planner, Hairspray and Disenchanted – will be directing the film, while the cast also includes key roles for Reacher star Alan Ritchson and Awkwafina.
As for the plot, the movie will revolve around the untimely theft of jolly old St Nick's magic bag and his subsequent attempts to get it back so that he can fulfil his present delivering tasks on Christmas Eve.
He does so by enlisting the help of thief Vance (Ritchson) – who has been a long-term presence on his naughty list – with that duo and an assortment of misfits teaming up to pull off the greatest heist of Vance's life and save Christmas.
Schwarzenegger will join a long list of major actors who have played Santa over the years, with Richard Attenborough, Kurt Russell, Tim Allen, Ed Asner, Leslie Neilson and JK Simmons among the most prominent stars to have donned the red suit in the past.
The former California governor hasn't had too many film credits in recent years, but he has a number of projects currently in the works including sequels to both 2015 martial arts featurette Kung Fury and his iconic 1980s role Conan the Barbarian.
Speaking of the latter back in March, Scharzenegger explained: "It’s a great story where Conan was 40 years king and he gets complacent, and now he gets forced out of the kingdom, slowly.
"Then there’s conflict, of course, and then he somehow comes back, and then there’s all kinds of madness and violence and magic and creatures."
