ROCHESTER, N.Y. — A former St. John Fisher University student convicted of stalking and attempted assault will not serve any jail time.
A Monroe County judge sentenced Shalom Mathews to five months probation. The judge also issued three no-contact orders to the three victims.
In January 2024, Mathews tried to attack a university staffer in a campus building at Fisher; the staffer was able to fight him off and get the knife away from him. This incident led to the university going into lockdown. He was later charged with stalking after sending explicit messages to two women in Brighton.
