Scott Probst, the younger brother of Jeff Probst who previously worked on Survivor alongside the host, has died.
Brent Probst announced the death of his and Jeff’s brother via Instagram on Monday, May 11.
“Some sad news, our brother Scott is no longer with us. He was a great brother, son and friend. I will miss him so much,” Brent captioned a photo of Scott. “I’m so sad he is gone.”
Brent did not offer any details on Scott’s cause of death.

Jeff, 64, is the eldest of Jerry and Barbara Probst’s three sons. The siblings were raised in Kansas before relocating to Washington when Jeff was 15.

Prior to his death, Scott worked alongside his older brother on the CBS reality competition series, serving as an art assistant, camera assistant, props assistant, grip and video engineer on multiple episodes between 2006 and 2012.
Scott’s other credits include working as a production coordinator on the video game Medal of Honor: Rising Sun in 2003 and a producer on the video games Medal of Honor: European Assault in 2005 and Command and Conquer 4: Tiberian Twilight in 2010.
Over the years, Jeff—who is also Survivor’s executive producer and showrunner—has involved his family in the production process. His niece Abby Probst joined the Dream Team in 2025, becoming a crew member who assists across departments and, more specifically, shadows the show’s assistant directors.
“She kicks ass,” Jeff told People on location in Fiji while filming season 50. “She came in with a last name that put a little bit of a spotlight on her, but she got the job on her own. She got asked back on her own.”
He added of Brent’s daughter, “We’re very clear here—everybody runs their department. And I know it’s a little weird because the last name is Probst, but had she not earned it, she wouldn’t be back.”
The Probst family’s tight-knit bond could be felt when Survivor paid tribute to Jeff’s mom, Barbara, after her death in November 2024 at age 85.
“Dedicated to Barb, the biggest Survivor fan of all time,” read an in memoriam slide at the end of season 47’s 10th episode. “See you on our next adventure.”
Earlier that month, Brent announced the news of Barbara’s death via Instagram.
“My amazing mom, Barbara Probst, passed away peacefully yesterday in her home,” he wrote at the time. “She was the best mom, grandma and just a fantastic person full of love and life. For the last couple years, she had full-time care for dementia and died one week before her 86th birthday. She had a great life and I am certain that I am a good person because she and my dad raised me with love and humor. I will miss her every single day for the rest of my life.”
