A 19-year-old man from Chicago’s northwest suburbs was identified as the person killed in a drive-by shooting early Saturday in the city’s West Lawn neighborhood.
According to police, the shooting occurred at around 1:53 a.m. along West 69th Street near South Pulaski Road. The victim was standing outside when he sustained multiple gunshot wounds to the lower back. He was later pronounced dead at an area hospital.
The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office on Sunday identified the victim as Gionvannie E. Vargas of Cary.
An autopsy was scheduled in the case.
