’90s Rock Band Announces New Film After Reunion Tour

More than 15 years after their dramatic split, legendary Britpop band Oasis is bringing fans behind the scenes of its long-awaited reunion. A new documentary about the group’s 2025 comeback tour will arrive in theaters this September before streaming later in the year on Disney+ and Hulu.

The untitled film was directed by Dylan Southern and Will Lovelace and produced by “Peaky Blinders” creator Steven Knight. According to UCR, the announcement said the documentary includes “rehearsal, backstage and onstage access as well as the first joint interviews with Noel and Liam in over 25 years.”

The movie follows Oasis’ 2025 reunion tour, the band’s first live performances together since breaking up in 2009 after years of public fights between brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher. The reunion quickly became one of the biggest music events of the year and reportedly turned into the second highest-grossing tour of 2025.

The documentary is scheduled for a limited theatrical release beginning Sept. 11. It will later stream internationally on Disney+ and on Hulu and Disney+ in the United States.

Steven Knight shared his excitement about the project in a statement.

“I genuinely cannot wait for the world to see this film,” Knight said. “I believe it captures the spirit and emotion of a global cultural moment and does justice to the wit and genius of two exceptional people.”

He added: “I wanted to tell the story of the brothers and the band, but just as important, the story of the fans whose lives the music has touched and sometimes changed forever. It is also the story of how music and songwriting can unite generations, cultures, countries and in a time of spite and division, give us all some reason to hope.”

Oasis first formed in Manchester in 1991 and became one of the defining rock bands of the 1990s Britpop movement. The group was led by brothers Liam Gallagher and Noel Gallagher, whose mix of hit songs and constant public arguments helped turn the band into global stars.

The band exploded with its debut album Definitely Maybe in 1994 before reaching worldwide fame with 1995’s “(What’s the Story) Morning Glory?” The album featured major hits including “Wonderwall,” “Don’t Look Back in Anger,” and “Champagne Supernova.”

Over the years, Oasis released seven studio albums, including Be Here Now, Standing on the Shoulder of Giants and Dig Out Your Soul. The group sold more than 100 million records worldwide and became one of the most successful British rock bands ever.

Still, tensions between the Gallagher brothers often overshadowed the music. In August 2009, Noel Gallagher announced he was leaving the band after a backstage argument in Paris, effectively ending Oasis.

For years, fans wondered if the band would ever reunite. That finally changed in 2024 when Oasis officially announced the Oasis Live ’25 Tour.

The reunion tour began in July 2025 at Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales. Former members Paul “Bonehead” Arthurs, Gem Archer and Andy Bell also returned for the tour.

The documentary news arrives during another major moment for Oasis. In 2026, the band was officially selected for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

The announcement came after Oasis reunited and proved its popularity remained strong across generations. The Rock Hall ceremony is scheduled for Nov. 14 in Los Angeles and will stream later on Disney+, per New York Times.

The induction class also includes artists such as Phil Collins, Billy Idol, Sade and Wu-Tang Clan.
