STANLEY, N.Y. — A 15-year-old boy died Friday after suffering severe burns in an accidental fire last month, according to the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded to a home on Little Church Road in Stanley on April 23 after the teenager poured gasoline on an outdoor fire, officials said. The gasoline exploded and caught the boy on fire, causing partial thickness burns to most of his body.

Mercy Flight Central transported him to Strong Memorial Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition in the ICU Burn Unit.

Kristen Wildrick, 51, of Little Church Road, also suffered burns to her arm and foot while trying to put out the flames. Stanley Hall Gorham Ambulance transported her to Strong Memorial Hospital, where she was treated in the emergency department.

Stanley Fire Department and Hall Fire Department assisted at the scene. After an investigation, deputies determined the fire was accidental and not suspicious.
